[TITLE – California Pacific Medical Center: Intern Year]
>> DANA LIN: I had not anticipated how much I’d love intern year.
>> DANA LIN: Um, everyone tells you it’s going to be a brutal year,
>> DANA LIN: And I am very much surprised by how positive an experience it’s been.
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: People here really appreciate other’s who want to learn,
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: who are passionate about it,
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: who care about patients.
>> DAVID JACOBSON: Get ready to see an incredibly diverse patient population,
>> DAVID JACOBSON: … and, get ready to have some of your communication skills, ah, challenged,
>> DAVID JACOBSON: ah, but new family dynamics.
>> DANA LIN: Just like Dartmouth does, I think CPMC does a great job of choosing, um…
>> DANA LIN: …an awesome group of people.
>> DANA LIN: I love my co-interns, I love my residents.
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: They jump on every opportunity they can to see different conditions,
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: Um, work with different people.
>> DAVID JACOBSON: Get ready to be an important part of the care team.
>> DAVID JACOBSON: I think one of the things the students have told me time after time,
>> DAVID JACOBSON: is that they feel that their voice is valued,
>> DAVID JACOBSON: that they feel like they have a real role and impact in the daily care of their patients.
>> DANA LIN: I’m moving on to radiology next year and I’m a little bit nervous that my class next year is not going to match up to the people that I’ve met this year.
>> DANA LIN: I’m so sad to be leaving them.
>> DAVID JACOBSON: I would also tell them that they are coming to an environment that is ah, warm, open, and supportive.
>> DAVID JACOBSON: Um, I’ve heard consistently that they think our residents, our interns, and our faculty are incredibly supportive and offer great mentorship.
>> DANA LIN: Being an intern here and seeing Dartmouth students around.
>> DANA LIN: I think it’s a great, um, opportunity for them to see a lot of different types of patients.
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: The other thing that’s really great about coming to CPMC is being able to be in close quarters with your fellow students.
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: Anyone who’s coming out here to be at CPMC,
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: I think it’s a really fun time to get to know your classmates better,
>> JEANIE RINGELBERG: um, and hang out and enjoy the city together.
