Discovering molecules that regulate our immune system in order to better treat immune-related diseases like cancer, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. That's the focus of Randy Noelle, a cellular immunologist at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine, who is leading a team of researchers to develop human therapeutics to block a molecule called VISTA that turns on inflammation. Says Noelle: "Blocking Vista will unleash the immune response and allow it to make immune responses to cancer and eradicate it."
