Clinical experiences make up a vital component of every medical student’s education, as students learn firsthand how health care is delivered in different settings. At Geisel, students have a range of options for these clinical rotations in several affiliated teaching hospitals. One popular choice for a growing number of Geisel students is the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC)in San Francisco, which provides excellent clinical training in internal medicine, inpatient medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and obstetrics and gynecology. CPMC, one of the largest academic medical centers in California, serves a diverse patient population and it gives Geisel students a chance to experience work and life in an urban setting. After graduating, many Geisel alumni go on to train at CPMC as residents.
“I think our time here at CPMC is definitely an extraordinary addition to our education at Geisel,” says Jeannie Ringelberg, a Geisel student who completed her medicine clerkship at CPMC in 2013.
